Circling Southern Africa

For a more in depth look at the journey Steph and I will be undertaking, check out the map below.

Of course we can make a plan, but we all know that when you travel you discover new things, meet new people, fall in love with one place, dislike another. We  shall see how the journey unfolds.

But for now, we are looking at:

1) Starting in Johannesburg. Visiting the Apartheid Museum, the home of Nelson Mandela, the memorials of the struggle against Apartheid and exploring a few of the fascinating neighbourhoods of the edgy city.

2) Renting a truck and driving to Lesotho to go Skiing at Afriski, one of only two ski resorts in all of Africa.   http://www.afriski.net/

Who ever would have thought you could ski in Africa????

3) Making our way to Swaziland to see one of Africa's smallest and under reported countries.

4) Kruger National Park, and God's Window, one of the most beautiful vistas in all of Africa.

5) Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. The only non English speaking country we will be visiting. I hope we can brush up on our Portuguese in order to sample some of their amazing seafood.

The coast of Mozambique.

6) Mozambique's beaches. Doing Yoga, sailing, swimming, fishing and flat out relaxing on some of the most beautiful beaches this side of Africa.

7) On the road to Malawi. The North Central part of Mozambique is full of beautiful hiking opportunities in the Chimanimani Mountains along the Zimbabwe Border.

8) Hang by the beach side of Cape Maclear, Lake Malawi.

9) Transit through Zambia to visit my friends Mark and Kirsty on their farm in South Central Zambia.

10) VICTORIA FALLS. Here is where we will have to explore both the Zambia and Zimbabwe side of Victoria falls. I have only been on the Zambia side, but I hear the view on the Zimbabwe side is outstanding and the opportunities for river rafting, helicopter rides and other out door adventure activities are through the roof.

11) Chobe National Park, Botswana. Just across the border from Victoria falls lies a national park that is home to 55,000 Elephants. I cannot wait to ride a jeep through here with Stephanie.

12) Namibia bound. If time permits, we shall cross over to Namibia to sand board, sky dive and enjoy one of Southern Africa's most peaceful and yet exciting countries.

13) Finishing the trip in the WESTERN CAPE. Cape Town, the Wine Lands, Shark Cage diving, Robben Island, Penguins and so much more. The most romantic and developed place in all of Africa will be the perfect finish to the trip.

The Beauty of the Cape of Good Hope.

This trip is shaping up to be one of the most amazing adventures one can think of and I cannot wait to share it with you all.

Thanks for tuning in.

Cheers,

Will and Steph.

Africa Bound

Welcome to the newest edition of travel with Will Delaney and his partner in crime Stephanie Haggarty.

Our first trip abroad, Seattle Washington, October 2013, the beginning of something great!

During the past 7 years I have travelled alone, crossing some of the driest deserts, highest mountains, most dangerous roads, steamiest jungles and seen some of the worlds most interesting cultures.

When one does this alone, they often have a sense of discovery, you learn a lot about yourself, but you still yearn to share it with someone. And finally at this point in my life, I have someone to share it with, the most wonderful woman in the world, Stephanie.

The title of this blog series is Will and Steph Abroad, as from now I shall not adventure without her by my side!

We have transversed Canada and the United States together, visiting Seattle, Vancouver, Florida and Georgia, but this time we shall embark on an adventure with a far different twist.

We shall start our journey with a direct flight from Calgary to Amsterdam. We will be staying in Amsterdam for 3 nights where we plan to visit the Anne Frank Museum, the Heineken factory, enjoy the beauty of the canals, ride some bikes and enjoy Europe in the summer.

After this short stay in Europe we will jet down across the African continent, direct to Johannesburg where we will begin our 6 week journey in Africa.

Steph and I have a solid plan prepared, hoping to get a taste of some of Southern Africa's high lights while at same time looking to find some of its hidden gems.
Hoping to spot plenty of these guys across Southern Africa.

Some of the high lights include Skiing in Lesotho, river rafting in Swaziland, beach buming Mozambique, relaxing on the lake side of Lake Malawi, visiting my good friend Mark in Zambia, Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, chasing the largest herds of Elephants in Chobe National Park Botswana, sand boarding Namibia and shark cage diving in Cape Town and so much more in between.

This is going to be a trip of a life time, and I hope that all of you will tune in for regular blog and video updates from Steph and I as we transverse Africa!!!!

Wishing everyone a great summer.

Will and Steph.
